Hair Transplant

A hair transplant is a surgical procedure which transfers a patient's own hairs from a donor area to areas of the scalp that are undergoing hair loss or thinning. The donor area is often the back or sides of the head and these hairs are genetically programmed to be permanent. As such, once these donor hairs are moved during the hair transplant procedure, they will continue to grow for a lifetime.
While there are many different hair transplant techniques, some of the best results obtained today use the technique of follicular unit grafting. A follicular unit is the term used to describe the natural groupings of one, two, three and occasionally four hairs. Because this is how hair grows naturally in the scalp, follicular unit grafting often provides the most natural results.
